In Print

Noah’s artwork is being featured in the Monarch Gallery in La Jolla, and he used one of my photos for the ad he placed for the announcement. This will be in Riviera magazine next month, so if you’re a regular reader of the magazine of travel and luxurious living, keep your eyes peeled for it! BTW, the layout was done by fashion and wedding photographer/ graphic artist Eric Lamph.

Rain!

Of course, if you don’t live in Southern California, rain is nothing much too exciting. But considering the fact that we got about 2″ of rain last year, it’s nice to see some! It’s always so exciting to catch a glimpse of Chuck Henry from channel 4 news standing on the sidewalk in his rain slicker as cars whiz by splashing water. My personal favorite is the standard “put the camera down in the gutter to make it appear like a raging river” shot. Well, I did a little storm watch of my own. After picking up the kids from school, I headed out towards Blackstar and Silverado canyons to check it out. Amazing what a little of the wet stuff will do to make everything look beautiful!

Portrait of an Artist Pt. 2

Last night I headed up to Lower Grand in downtown Los Angeles to shoot some more portraits of Noah.  I was joined by an amazing photographer, Bo Bridges who is best known for his action sports photography, but is also an incredible commercial and portrait photographer as well.  Lower Grand is an amazing location that can be seen in tons of movies and commercials.  It has a very unique look and feel  because of the fluorescent tubes and the breaks in the roadway above that give you glimpses of the high rises above.  I had a great time experimenting with mixing the ambient fluorescent light with some off camera strobe.  I think they came out pretty cool!  Enjoy…

Well, my site is finally online!   I still have a few changes to make to dial it in,  but it is online and running smooth.  Thank you to everyone who has helped me get this rolling.  There are so many of you that have helped me through kind words and referals.   But I want to thank a few people individually who really helped me out.  Bret and Amy Elliott and the Pedroza Family for being my first clients, Kathy Copeland, the Fowlers, my parents and the Woods’ for your many referals and encouraging words, Blake Schwendimann for your hiring me as an assistant,   Noah Elias for teaching me to believe in myself, Becker for always answering my questions, The Kalamaras’ for letting me photograph their kids so many times and a huge thank you to my wife Mishelle and my kids Savannah and Ian for constantly encouraging me and supporting me from day one.  Also, thanks to the Pawnshop Kings  for letting me play one of their songs on the site.  So go ahead and check it out!   Just click on the screen shot below.  By the way, the address is still http://gshawphoto.com and my blog address is http://gshawphotoblog.com .  Alrighty then…1.jpg

The Best of Kids

As some of you already know, I have been working on a brand new website.  But due to some nice press on VH1 that my template company Bludomain received, my site is in a virtual holding pattern until they catch up.  So I wait… But building my site has resulted in my compiling of huge folders of images, so I decided to put together a Photo to Movie slideshow of some of my favorite kids pictures from the past year.  I have had the opportunity to meet so many incredible families through my business and they have the most beautiful kids you will ever see.  Thanks go to all of you who have trusted me to create some cool images of your kids!  So on with the show.  Turn up your speakers and give it a few minutes to load, sit back and enjoy!   [video 5842 w=450]

If it starts getting choppy or freezes, push pause and it give it some time to get ahead.  It’s a big show!
