Portland Engagement Shoot

Last weekend I flew up to Portland to meet up with Jen and John for a day of touring the city and capturing some unique portraits of the two of them.  This was my first time in the city, and I couldn’t get over what an incredible back drop it was for shooting portraits.  It didn’t hurt to have to very good looking people, who are a ton of fun to be with either!  We started out shooting around Multnomah Village where Jen lives.

We took a couple of shots at Jen’s apartment.  She lives over a 100 year old store and it has this cool looking back porch

After that, we headed down town to walk around.  Portland has some of the most beautiful architecture you’ll ever see, mixed in with so many trees that it’s like a city built in a forest.

John is one funny dude.  Jen is cracking up in about half of the photos.  When I asked Jen what he was whispering to her in the picture on the right, she said he was telling her the history of the City Hall building behind them!  On the left, he demonstrates his Jordanesque skillz, and Jen seemed quite impressed!

Everywhere we went, there was another amazing location to shoot at.

Washington Park

John always knows how to make Jen smile!

We finally ended up at Cathedral Park under the St. Johns bridge.  The vertical supports of the bridge look like cathedral windows and make for some cool optical illusions.  It makes the park feel like it has this huge high ceiling rather than being outdoors.  It is a very cool place to check out if you’re ever in Portland.

On the left, John demonstrated just how easily one can be the victim of a surprise ninja attack. Then using a little sunlight for some dramatic effect.

Try and find the “heart” in the picture on the left

Thanks so much guys for taking me around the city and for being so much fun.  Also for putting up with the 95 degree heat!  I can’t wait for the wedding in August…it’s going to be amazing!

Amy’s Senior Portraits

Last week I had the privilege of photographing a true celebrity.  At least she is a celebrity in my daughter’s and millions of other kids eyes in the near future.  Amy is a senior in high school and she has recently started a new job as Ariel at Disneyland!  With her smile, perfect complexion and green eyes, she is going to be a great mermaid!  So I met Amy and her mom and we headed down to Laguna and took some shots around town, and ended up down on the beach.

This was the very first shot out of my camera.

Practicing mermaid poses on the left, followed by some tree climbing

Thanks Amy and Ann for making my job so easy!  I had a great time hanging out with you guys and I’m looking forward to showing you the rest of you photos.

Weekend Trip

Last weekend we headed up to visit my sister and her family up in Fresno.  They are quite the outdoors family so they took us on a couple of adventures while we were there.  Saturday, we went hiking at a spot just north of Oakhurst, just outside of Yosemite.  It is such an amazing place because most people overlook it as they continue on into Yosemite.  This time of year, the creek is full and the waterfalls are amazing.

Ian took this shot.  The boy has skills!

The Nichols Family on the left, and a Snowflower in full bloom

The kids with Red Rock Falls in the bacground

After a long hike, nothing like some real BBQ!  We stopped in Oakhurst for some nourishment, and I had a to go big with the pulled pork and ribs platter!

I saw this shed next to the restaurant, and I had to get a shot of the kids in front of it

Ian looking very A&F and Leanna with a baby chick

Thanks John and Kristi for a great time!
