Laura and Topher

My third engagement session from last week was with Laura and Topher.  I feel so blessed to have such great people to work with.  Every now and then I hear these nightmare stories about the clients other photographers end up working with, but all of the couples I have worked with have been such amazing people and, Laura and Topher are no exception!

It was great hanging out with you guys and thanks for making the trek out to OC.  I can’t wait to shoot your wedding…it’s going to be a blast!

And it’s good to see that her success hasn’t gone to her head, and she still knows how to be a kid!

Debby and Steve

Last weekend I met up with a great couple whose wedding I am shooting this summer up in Oregon.  Since it has a tendency to be a bit gray up in Oregon this time of year (it doesn’t rain, it’s only a heavy drizzle) they made the trip down to OC to shoot some engagement photos in Laguna Beach.  It looked like maybe they brought some of the Pacific Northwest with them, but the late afternoon sun finally made it’s way through and gave us a beautiful afternoon.

Debby’s son came along, so we did a mini family shoot as well!

After walking around town for a bit, we headed out on the beach to get a little sandy.

Debby and Steve, I had a great time hanging with you guys and I can’t wait to make the trip to Portland to shoot your wedding this summer!

Zack and Mallorie

Last November, I did a family photo shoot for the Caldwell family. So the whole family was there, along with the newest soon to be member of their family, Mallorie.  Their son Zack had proposed the night before and as things worked out, they ended up choosing me to shoot their wedding this summer.  Last week, I met up with the two of them to shoot their engagement session.  I am really looking forward to their wedding this July.  The ceremony is going to be held at Mariner’s new chapel which looks amazing!  On with the photos….

For you photographers out there, I shot this with a polarized filter and an off camera strobe at camera left.  I think it came out pretty cool!

This was the closest I got to getting Zack to give me a serious look.  You can tell by Mallorie’s expression that she wasn’t buying it either.

Zack instinctively got in this position when he got near the wall.  There’s got to be a story there!

You can’t fake being truly happy…

The shot above was my favorite of the day…

I’m picturing these two on their wedding day…something tells me my job is going to be very easy!

I had a great time with these two and I can’t wait for the wedding!

Anza-Borrego Photo Field Trip

Yesterday I had a photo adventure with some of my friends from the [b] school.  This time we headed out to Anza – Borrego State Park to check out some wildflowers and hike around in the rocks.  It was actually a really cool place that I had never been to.  The terrain is very rugged and I’m sure during the summer, it’s hotter than heck.  But yesterday it was a very pleasant 70!  We started out with a 5 mile hike to the palms oasis, which by the way, is not a bar at a hotel in Vegas.

I decided to risk it and brought only a pint of water.

As we continued up the canyon, we finally caught the first glimpse of something oasis-like….a natural spring!

Then we came upon this little waterfall with a small pond.  The water felt real nice on my sore feets.

Finally we found the mysterious palm grove.  It was pretty cool to see out in the middle of nowhere like this since I’m used to seeing palm trees planted in perfect rows at the entrance to shopping centers.  Below, Joe Photo is focusing in on some fronds.

After our little hike, we headed out to find some flowers.

Along with flowers, we found these giant caterpillars who were having a feast.

It was another great Day Trippin’ adventure!  Until next time…
